Sangha
A Sanskrit word meaning a community who gathers to share insights, experiences, joys, and difficulties, and to support and encourage each other on their paths of practice.
For a few years now, I’ve been wanting to create a group of women entrepreneurs that gather once a month via Zoom to share our goals, ideas, struggles, and insights, and then brainstorm ways together to help each other accomplish those goals; a Sangha per se.
I can’t help but think that this idea was born out of my affiliation with the men’s organization GoBundance (GB). And even if my idea was born before my involvement with GoBundance, GB has certainly magnified my desire to get this women’s group going.
GoBundance is an organization that focuses on and strives to better individuals’ spiritual, family, physical, and financial health. They’re also a huge advocate of bucket list adventures, which is where BELAY EXPEDITIONS comes into play. Each year (or about) I get the opportunity to lead a group of men from GoBundance up the mountains or through the canyons and as of late, I get to do this with their sons and daughters!
One thing I love most about this group of driven and high-performing men, is that most nights around our campfire one gentleman will share his goals, as well as what he could use help with. What follows is a meaningful and inspiring conversation from all the other men helping this gentleman accomplish his goals and alleviate his struggles. No competition, no jealousy, no condescension - just genuine support and stoke for their fellow GoBundance member.
Just a rad group of GB men on the mountain and around the campfire talking goals with me.
Well some dreams never die and I officially had my first women's entrepreneur meet-up on November 1st with my friend Melissa Colvin - a wellness coach out of Atlanta, Georgia. We shared annual goals, monthly goals, made an action list, and decided to call our group Sangha. What does a monthly goal entail? Well my monthly goal for November was to simply get ONE Acuity Scheduling Calendar on the website to test out.
As much as Sangha is about brainstorming with other women entrepreneurs, it’s equally as much about having a community that’s willing to hold you accountable for what you say you are going to do. On December 1st, we will have our second meet-up and will welcome my friend Tjaden Rohrke - owner of Wild Pistils Wellness in Northern California. You may recognize Tjaden from a previous retreat she co-hosted with me and you may recognize Mel from Bali!
Just Mel and me during our first meeting!
I’m currently reading “Think Like A Monk” by Jay Shetty and there’s a line in there that reads,
“Invest in your strengths and surround yourself with people who can fill in the gaps.”
So in closing, if you’re a woman entrepreneur who could use a Sangha, I invite you to join us at 12:00pm CST on December 1st via Zoom where you’ll be surrounded by a group of rad women who can help you fill in your gaps! Just reply with your email!
BE You, Better.
