Red Castle: A Father & Daughter Journey for GoBundance (Starting @ $4,300)
GoBundance × BE · High Uinta Wilderness, Utah · September 13-18, 2027
OVERVIEW:
Your daughter won’t be this age forever, and neither will this chapter of your life together. Give her something she’ll still be talking about at thirty: the summer you carried your own packs into the mountains, side by side, and came out better.
Join us September 13-18, 2027 for six days in the High Uintas with your daughter and a small circle of fellow GoBundance dads who are also making time for what matters most. We’re not chasing summits. We’re chasing golden aspens and three very different alpine lakes at the foot of Red Castle, the crown jewel of Utah’s highest mountain range.
You’ll hike into the High Uinta Wilderness, one of the largest and most pristine backcountry areas in the state. You’ll unplug and look up from the screens. You’ll watch your daughter find her stride, and she’ll see you outside your usual routine. No experience is needed, and you don’t need to own any gear: top-notch backpacking gear is available to rent at checkout, and your airport shuttle is complimentary. All you have to do is show up ready for the adventure.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Camp at the base of Red Castle, the crown jewel of the Uintas, with a lakeside view that you’ll never forget.
Meaningful time with your daughter, side by side on the trail and around camp, with no screens and nowhere else to be.
Real conversation with fellow GoBundance dads, with honest, insightful talk around the campfire.
Fall foliage at its best, with aspens turning gold across the High Uinta Wilderness.
Rad basecamp in the city, with two nights at the Evo Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, featuring a climbing wall, skate park, sauna, and cold plunge.

Day 1: Arrival in Salt Lake City
Welcome to Salt Lake City! Our journey begins at 3:00pm, when we check in to our rad outdoorsy hotel, the Evo, in downtown Salt Lake. Settle in, then join us for a welcome dinner, a low-key meet and greet, an overview of the adventure ahead, and a gear demonstration. Have extra time before dinner? Challenge your daughter on the Evo’s indoor rock wall or skatepark. We’re so happy you’re here!
Included meals: Dinner
Accommodations: Hotel
Day 2: Into the Mountains
Good morning! After breakfast on your own, we hit the road for a three-hour drive, crossing east into Wyoming before dipping back south into Utah. After lunch at the trailhead, you and your daughter will hike about six (mostly flat) miles through stunning fall foliage and transitioning aspens to our first camp at an alpine lake ringed by evergreens and cliffs. Pitch your tents, then gather around the campfire for hobo dinners, warmth, and the first of many great conversations with your new trail family.
Included meals: Lunch and Dinner
Accommodations: Tent
Miles: 6
Day 3: Red Castle
After breakfast, we hike eight flat miles to the foot of Red Castle, the crown jewel of the High Uinta Wilderness. This jagged peak rises to 12,676' and is ringed by lakes, each offering a different view of the castle and its own distinct feel. Fly fishers travel here from around the world.
Tonight’s camp is Lower Red Castle Lake, Belay’s personal favorite. Tomorrow, we’ll move to Red Castle Lake, the largest of the group. Once camp is set, explore the shoreline with your daughter or simply relax and take in the view. Either way, we’ll see you around the campfire.
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Accommodations: Tent
Miles: 8
Day 4: A Slow Morning and a New Lake
Today, sleep in! Let the sun warm your tent, sip an irrational amount of coffee, and listen to the birds and the breeze. This is the morning to linger over meaningful conversation with your daughter and fellow GoBundance dads. This afternoon, we pack up and head two miles to Red Castle Lake, where you’ll be above the trees and feel like you’re on another planet. Fan of stand-up paddleboarding? BE’s Alaskan Malamute will haul a board in for you to try. SUPing in these lakes is a world-class experience. Today is low miles because tomorrow is big!
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Accommodations: Tent
Miles: 2
Day 5: Alpine Start and Back to the City
Good early morning! We start before sunrise with many miles to cover. The good news: your body is stronger, we’ll take plenty of breaks along the way, and our food bags are empty. Soak in the views and cheer each other on. Afterward, we’ll drive back to the Evo for much-deserved showers, sauna, and cold plunges. Dinner is at your leisure so you can rest and recover, with plenty of boutique restaurants within walking distance. It’s the perfect chance for a father-daughter celebration dinner.
Included meals: Breakfast and Lunch
Accommodations: Hotel
Miles: 11
Day 6: Departure
Good last morning together. Join BE for a farewell breakfast, then return your gear. Have extra time? Get back on the rock wall or skateboard (I’m rock wall and sauna-bound). Checkout is at 11:00am, and BE will take you to the airport then. Have a later flight or sticking around? SLC’s light rail goes to the airport, and Uber and Lyft fares are excellent.
