OVERVIEW:
Sometimes you just need to immerse yourself in nature and pull some miles, and that is exactly the reason this journey was created. This 7-day adventure consists of 5 days hiking and 4 nights camping along the legendary Colorado Trail (CT). It’s worth noting that this particular 50-mile section is widely celebrated as the most beautiful part of the entire 500-mile CT. With an average pace of 10 miles per day, this journey delivers the perfect balance of physical challenge and mental restoration. Speaking of restoration, once we complete our trek, we’ll celebrate our epic achievement by soaking and staying in Ouray’s historic and rejuvenating hot springs & lodge!

ITINERARY:
Day 1: Lake City Arrival!
Welcome to Colorado, let the journey begin! If you’re flying in, BE can meet you at the Montrose airport at 12:00pm. Driving in? Join us at our cozy Lake City accommodation by 3:00pm for a team welcome dinner, an itinerary overview, and gear preparation! This evening is all about relaxation, getting organized, and taking the time to get to know one another!
Included meals = Dinner. Accommodation = Hotel. Miles = 0.
Day 2: Off we go to the Colorado Trail!
Let’s do this! After fueling up with coffee and breakfast, we’ll set off for Spring Creek Pass to kick off our exciting 50-mile adventure along the legendary Colorado Trail. Our route will take us through the stunning and mineral-rich San Juan Mountains, offering spectacular views and unforgettable experiences. Prioritizing our health and stamina, we’ll start our journey with a manageable seven-mile hike. Tonight you sleep under the stars!
Included meals = Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Accommodations = Tent. Miles = 7.
Day 3-5: Immersed.
GOOD LEISURE MORNINGS! Wake with the sun and savor your coffee—this is what we love most about backpacking! We’ll gradually increase our miles throughout the week to make sure we reach our final destination on time, but beyond that, backpacking doesn’t demand a strict schedule or rigid structure. Here at BE, we simply prefer to cover half our miles before lunch and half afterward. And no matter what, we always enjoy pitching camp around dusk! Welcome to The Good Life!

Day 6: Hot Springs Celebration!
It’s our last day on the trail – such a bittersweet moment! Today, we’ll aim to hike our final mile into Molas Pass by noon. If time allows, we might even squeeze in a quick stand-up paddleboard session to really soak up those awe-inspiring views! Then, at 3:00 pm, we’ll make our way to the historic hot springs lodge in Ouray for a well-deserved evening of restoration and celebration. Day 7: Departure!
It’s departure day! After a cup of coffee, a final relaxing soak, and maybe a morning stroll through the charming town of Ouray, we’ll part ways at 11:00am! Flying out? BELAY EXPEDITIONS can gladly take you to the airport. Be sure to book your departing flight for no earlier than 2:00pm. Driving out? Reach out for post-journey recommendations! Thank you for spending seven unforgettable and epic days with BELAY EXPEDITIONS in the high mountains of Colorado. We feel so blessed. Until next time…

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY:
Journeyers who cancel their journey 90+ days before the start date will be refunded the total amount minus processing fees and the $500 non-refundable deposit.
Journeyers who cancel their journey 30 to 90 days before the start state will be refunded half the total amount minus processing fees.
Journeyers who cancel their journey less than 30 days before the start date will not be refunded.
Journeyers who choose to leave an active journey for any reason are not entitled to a refund. Due to the nature and heavy costs of operating permits, BE must adhere to the above itinerary and refund policy.
