OVERVIEW:

Join BE and five women this May for a 3-day Alpine Loop bikepacking clinic. Camp in alpine meadows, by rushing creeks, and beneath granite cliffs. Learn practical bikepacking skills, build confidence on varied terrain, and connect with like-minded women in a supportive all-women setting.

This 3-day clinic blends classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and on-trail coaching to develop and refine bikepacking skills. Designed to simulate a solo bikepacking journey emphasizing simplicity and self-reliance; you’ll participate in every decision and task. Topics include gear selection and packing, clothing for varying conditions, menu planning and food prep, bike setup, essential bicycle maintenance and repairs, itinerary and route choice, campsite assessment, campcraft, road/town/camp safety, Leave No Trace, and basic wilderness first aid.

This all-inclusive, self-supported 3-day/2-night clinic starts with a day/night at the BE shop for gear orientation and menu planning, then two days/one night riding and camping the Alpine Loop for hands-on experience. All meals and necessary gear (including bike) are provided. An optional Gunnison airport shuttle is available at checkout.

  • Who’s it for? Beginner to intermediate riders who want to start bikepacking or gain more confidence on overnight trips. No prior bikepacking experience required.

  • Exertion Level = Easy to Moderate

  • Mileage = ~20.

  • High = 60’s Low = 30’s.

  • Beginning & Ending Location = Lake City, CO

  • Six spots only!

  • Registration closes 2 weeks prior to arrival.

  • A $100 non-refundable deposit to secure your spot is welcomed at checkout! After placing your deposit, BE will email you about your preferred payment plan! The deposit is applied to the overall balance. No worries, there are no added fees, interest, or credit checks. BE Simple!

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Lake City Learning - Gear & Food

Welcome to Lake City! Join BE and the other women at the BE shop at 8:00 AM to kick off our bikepacking festivities and get ready for an incredible three days on two wheels! Topics learned:

  • Gear selection, proper use, and packing (morning)

  • Clothing for varying conditions (morning)

  • Menu planning & food prep (afternoon)

  • Essential bicycle field maintenance and repairs (evening)

Included meals = Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner. Accommodation = BE Shop. Miles = 0.

Day 2: Off We Go!

Good morning! After coffee and breakfast, we’ll spend some time exploring our destination in more detail via map, review safe travel practices, then ready our bikes! Topics learned today:

  • Itinerary development and route reading (morning)

  • Leave No Trace principals (morning)

  • Road/Town/Camp safety (afternoon)

  • Campsite selection (evening)

  • Cozy campcraft (evening)

Included meals = Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Accommodations = Tent. Miles = ~10.

Day 3: NERO

Good morning — today is our final day on trail! We’ll head back to town and run a NERO (a near‑zero mile day). Those days are for cleaning and repairing gear, showering, doing laundry, and taking it easy. Before we break camp though, we’ll cover expedition hygiene and basic first aid.

  • Common first aid

  • Expedition hygiene

  • Gear cleaning & repair

  • Nero & Zero Days

Included meals = Breakfast & Lunch. Accommodations = Hotel. Miles = ~10.

LOGISTICS:

  • Driving? Meet at the BE shop by 8:00am on Day 1.

  • Flying? Rental cars are available at GUC airport or BE can pick you up, just opt for the shuttle at checkout!

RENTAL GEAR:

All gear/clothing/food needs to fit inside the pull-behind, all-terrain 70-liter bicycle trailer provided by BE. Check out the Gear List for your comprehensive travel list! Feel free to Contact Uswith any gear and clothing questions!

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY:

  • Journeyers who cancel their journey 30 to 90+ days before the start date will be refunded the total amount minus processing fees and the non-refundable 50% deposit.

  • Journeyers who cancel their journey less than 30 days before the start date will not be refunded.

  • Participants who choose to leave an active journey for any reason are not entitled to a refund. Due to the nature and heavy costs of operating permits, BE must adhere to the above itinerary and refund policy.

FINE PRINT:

Above itinerary is subject to change per instructor’s discretion. Although beginning & end points do not change, daily mileages may be manipulated to better meet groups needs.
