OVERVIEW:

This all-inclusive 17-day Everest Base Camp journey hikes you 40 miles through the majestic Himalayas to reach the base of the world's highest mountain! It's hard to believe that once at Everest Base Camp, the summit of Mount Everest is just five miles away! Along the way, we will pass through lush forests and alpine terrain, cross epic suspension bridges, and immerse ourselves in the Sherpa villages and their rich and welcoming culture. Our personal favorites? Teahouses, monasteries, and awe-inspiring views of our world's highest mountains. This journey is definitely an experience of a lifetime!

Everest Base Camp is a high altitude hike and our strategically designed itinerary allows a healthy amount of time for altitude acclimation. No technical equipment is required but you must be able to hike for 3-5 hours each day.

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrival to Kathmandu @ 4,446'

Welcome to Nepal! BE will meet you at the Kathmandu airport to shuttle you to our Kathmandu hotel - the legendary Yak & Yeti! Tonight, we'll enjoy a team welcome dinner! Accommodations = Hotel. Included Meals = Dinner. Miles = 0.

Day 2: R&R @ 4,446'

Good morning! Sleep in and recover from jet lag! Today, you have the option to explore the city of Kathmandu or continue resting at the Yak & Yeti. Accommodations = Hotel. Included Meals = N/A. Miles = 0.

Day 3: Lukla @ 9,383'

Today we journey to Lukla via plane! The village of Lukla sits at an elevation of 9,383' so once in Lukla, we'll check into our teahouse and acclimatize! Accommodations = Teahouse (lodge). Included Meals = Dinner. Miles = 0.

Day 4: Phakding @ 8,562'

Good morning! What a stellar day we have before us as we finally begin our trek on foot toward Everest Base Camp! Post-breakfast, we'll start our 4.5 mile hike to the Sherpa village of Phakding. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals - B, L, D. Miles = 4.5.

Day 5: Manjoo @ 9,317'

Good morning! Today is a rather chill day in the Khumbu Valley as we try our way to the Sherpa village of Mangoo! We'll simply cover 2.5 miles today as we slowly make our way up in elevation. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 2.5.

Day 6: Namche Bazaar @ 11,286'

Today we break the 10,000' barrier on our way to Sherpa village Namche Bazaar! We'll also cover a good bit of miles! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 6.8.

Day 7: Tengboche @ 12,664'

Look at us, just making our way up 1,500' at a time! Tonight we sleep in Sherpa village Tengboche and will have an optional side trek to legendary Khumbjung Village. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, D. Miles = 5.5.

Day 8: Dingboche @ 14,435'

Today we break through another barrier as we hike past 14,000'! Tonight, we explore and sleep in the Sherpa village of Dingboche. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included Meals = B, L, D. Miles = 6.2.

Day 9: Lobuche @ 16,207'

Good morning! Today we climb to Lobuche. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 5.

Day 10: Ghorakshep @ 16,994' & Kala Patthar @ 18,519'

Good morning! Today is a special day for a couple reasons! One, we reach our highest Sherpa Village - Ghorakshep! And two, once there, we'll have an optional hike to Kala Pattar which offers the best views of Mount Everest in the area and requires an additional two hours of ascent! Feel like resting? We don't blame you! Feel free to rest and acclimatize at our teahouse! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 3.5.

Day 11: Everest Base Camp @ 17,598'

Today is the day we've been waiting for! We finally ascend all the way up to Everest Base Camp @ 17,598! CONGRATULATIONS! Once there, we'll soak up the views and kick up our feet. We deserve it! Afterward, we'll return to our cozy teahouse in Ghorakshep. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included Meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 4.5.

Day 12: Phireche @ 14,340'

With the hard work behind us, let our descent begin! Today we descend to a new to us Sherpa village called Phireche. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included Meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 6.8.

Day 13: Namche Bazaar @ 11,286'

Hey, you should recognize this village, welcome back to Namche Bazaar! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included Meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 9.

Day 14: Phakding @ 8,562'

Welcome back to an elevation below 10,000'! Today is our longest mileage, thank goodness it's on the downhill! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 9.5.

Day 15: Lukla @ 9,383'

Good morning! Today is our last day of hiking as we make our way out of Khumbu Valley and to our very first teahouse - Lukla. Congratulations on an EPIC yet leisurely Everest Base Camp Trek! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, D. Miles = 4.5.

Day 16: Kathmandu @ 4,446'

It's our last full day in Nepal! Today we fly from Lukla back to Kathmandu for one more night in the Yak & Yeti! Accommodation = Hotel. Included meals = Breakfast. Miles = 0.

Day 17: Departure

All good things must come to an end...or so they say. Today, we leave Nepal. Post-hotel checkout, BE will drive you to the airport to catch your departing flights. CONGRATULATIONS on an epic journey and accomplishing your bucket list adventure! Until next time... Accommodations = N/A. Included meals = N/A. Miles = 0.

GEAR LIST:

Your Everest Base Camp Gear List can be found here! The comprehensive list will highlight everything you need to bring and everything that you can rent through BELAY EXPEDITIONS. Rental gear is shipped to your home address one month prior to the expedition in a box with a pre-paid return label. Gear Rentals can be included at checkout.

INSURANCE:

Medical evacuation insurance is required and trip cancellation insurance is recommended. Here are four options:

  • Ripcord Rescue Travel Insurance - They offer both medical and travel! 2-in-1.

  • SPOT/Overwatch & Rescue - Belay uses a SPOT device which comes with medical evacuation insurance for $29. If you have a SPOT device or are planning on using one, this may be a good option!

  • Global + Rescue - Medical only.

  • AIG - Travel only.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:

  • There are no refunds for the deposit or balance payments for this expedition. This includes but is not limited to, expeditions that conclude without reaching or making progress towards Everest Base Camp due to route conditions, weather, insufficient manpower, or any other factor outside the control of BELAY EXPEDITIONS.

  • Expedition leader has the final say on the expedition conclusion and will make all best efforts towards reaching Everest Base Camp within our margin of safety.

  • Journeyers that choose to leave an active expedition for any reason are not entitled to any refunds

  • Due to the nature and heavy costs of government and operator permits, BELAY EXPEDITIONS must adhere to the strict refund policy.

After booking, expect monthly emails from BE to get you prepped for your trek to Everest Base Camp! International travel require a bit of preparation and we help you accomplish those tasks one-by-one. Everest Base Camp is a high altitude hike and our strategically designed itinerary allows a healthy amount of time for altitude acclimation. No technical equipment is required but you must be able to hike for 3-5 hours each day.

  • A $1,000 non-refundable deposit to secure your spot is welcomed at checkout! After placing your deposit, BE will email you about your preferred payment plan! This deposit is applied to the overall balance. Balance is due 30 days prior to journey! No worries, there’s no interest, added fees, or credit checks. BE Simple!

  • Rental Gear = +$750

  • Personal Porter = +$300

COSTS INCLUDE:

  • Airport pickup in Kathmandu

  • All transportation in Nepal, including the round-trip fixed-wing flight to-and-from Lukla

  • 3 nights in Kathmandu at Hotel Yak & Yeti – two nights before and one night after

  • Teahouse lodging during the trek to-and-from Everest Base Camp

  • Team welcome dinner in Kathmandu

  • All food during the hike

  • Sherpa guides, team porters, and American mountain guides

  • All administration fees owed to Nepal, including hiking and national park permits

  • All group gear on the hike

  • 6-month training plan, 3-month training, & 1-month training plan.

  • Round-trip airfare to/from Kathmandu

  • Nepal 30-day tourist visa ($50 USD)

  • Alcoholic beverages, bottled beverages, specialty coffees, or espresso drinks

  • Trip cancellation insurance (highly recommended)

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrival to Kathmandu @ 4,446'

Welcome to Nepal! BE will meet you at the Kathmandu airport to shuttle you to our Kathmandu hotel - the legendary Yak & Yeti! Tonight, we'll enjoy a team welcome dinner! Accommodations = Hotel. Included Meals = Dinner. Miles = 0.

Day 2: R&R @ 4,446'

Good morning! Sleep in and recover from jet lag! Today, you have the option to explore the city of Kathmandu or continue resting at the Yak & Yeti. Accommodations = Hotel. Included Meals = N/A. Miles = 0.

Day 3: Lukla @ 9,383'

Today we journey to Lukla via plane! The village of Lukla sits at an elevation of 9,383' so once in Lukla, we'll check into our teahouse and acclimatize! Accommodations = Teahouse (lodge). Included Meals = Dinner. Miles = 0.

Day 4: Phakding @ 8,562'

Good morning! What a stellar day we have before us as we finally begin our trek on foot toward Everest Base Camp! Post-breakfast, we'll start our 4.5 mile hike to the Sherpa village of Phakding. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals - B, L, D. Miles = 4.5.

Day 5: Manjoo @ 9,317'

Good morning! Today is a rather chill day in the Khumbu Valley as we try our way to the Sherpa village of Mangoo! We'll simply cover 2.5 miles today as we slowly make our way up in elevation. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 2.5.

Day 6: Namche Bazaar @ 11,286'

Today we break the 10,000' barrier on our way to Sherpa village Namche Bazaar! We'll also cover a good bit of miles! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 6.8.

Day 7: Tengboche @ 12,664'

Look at us, just making our way up 1,500' at a time! Tonight we sleep in Sherpa village Tengboche and will have an optional side trek to legendary Khumbjung Village. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, D. Miles = 5.5.

Day 8: Dingboche @ 14,435'

Today we break through another barrier as we hike past 14,000'! Tonight, we explore and sleep in the Sherpa village of Dingboche. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included Meals = B, L, D. Miles = 6.2.

Day 9: Lobuche @ 16,207'

Good morning! Today we climb to Lobuche. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 5.

Day 10: Ghorakshep @ 16,994' & Kala Patthar @ 18,519'

Good morning! Today is a special day for a couple reasons! One, we reach our highest Sherpa Village - Ghorakshep! And two, once there, we'll have an optional hike to Kala Pattar which offers the best views of Mount Everest in the area and requires an additional two hours of ascent! Feel like resting? We don't blame you! Feel free to rest and acclimatize at our teahouse! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 3.5.

Day 11: Everest Base Camp @ 17,598'

Today is the day we've been waiting for! We finally ascend all the way up to Everest Base Camp @ 17,598! CONGRATULATIONS! Once there, we'll soak up the views and kick up our feet. We deserve it! Afterward, we'll return to our cozy teahouse in Ghorakshep. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included Meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 4.5.

Day 12: Phireche @ 14,340'

With the hard work behind us, let our descent begin! Today we descend to a new to us Sherpa village called Phireche. Accommodations = Teahouse. Included Meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 6.8.

Day 13: Namche Bazaar @ 11,286'

Hey, you should recognize this village, welcome back to Namche Bazaar! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included Meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 9.

Day 14: Phakding @ 8,562'

Welcome back to an elevation below 10,000'! Today is our longest mileage, thank goodness it's on the downhill! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, & D. Miles = 9.5.

Day 15: Lukla @ 9,383'

Good morning! Today is our last day of hiking as we make our way out of Khumbu Valley and to our very first teahouse - Lukla. Congratulations on an EPIC yet leisurely Everest Base Camp Trek! Accommodations = Teahouse. Included meals = B, L, D. Miles = 4.5.

Day 16: Kathmandu @ 4,446'

It's our last full day in Nepal! Today we fly from Lukla back to Kathmandu for one more night in the Yak & Yeti! Accommodation = Hotel. Included meals = Breakfast. Miles = 0.

Day 17: Departure

All good things must come to an end...or so they say. Today, we leave Nepal. Post-hotel checkout, BE will drive you to the airport to catch your departing flights. CONGRATULATIONS on an epic journey and accomplishing your bucket list adventure! Until next time... Accommodations = N/A. Included meals = N/A. Miles = 0.

GEAR LIST:

Your Everest Base Camp Gear List can be found here! The comprehensive list will highlight everything you need to bring and everything that you can rent through BELAY EXPEDITIONS. Rental gear is shipped to your home address one month prior to the expedition in a box with a pre-paid return label. Gear Rentals can be included at checkout.

INSURANCE:

Medical evacuation insurance is required and trip cancellation insurance is recommended. Here are four options:

  • Ripcord Rescue Travel Insurance - They offer both medical and travel! 2-in-1.

  • SPOT/Overwatch & Rescue - Belay uses a SPOT device which comes with medical evacuation insurance for $29. If you have a SPOT device or are planning on using one, this may be a good option!

  • Global + Rescue - Medical only.

  • AIG - Travel only.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:

  • There are no refunds for the deposit or balance payments for this expedition. This includes but is not limited to, expeditions that conclude without reaching or making progress towards Everest Base Camp due to route conditions, weather, insufficient manpower, or any other factor outside the control of BELAY EXPEDITIONS.

  • Expedition leader has the final say on the expedition conclusion and will make all best efforts towards reaching Everest Base Camp within our margin of safety.

  • Journeyers that choose to leave an active expedition for any reason are not entitled to any refunds

  • Due to the nature and heavy costs of government and operator permits, BELAY EXPEDITIONS must adhere to the strict refund policy.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER BOOKING:

After booking, expect monthly emails from BE to get you prepped for your trek to Everest Base Camp! International travel require a bit of preparation and we help you accomplish those tasks one-by-one. Our emails talk about clothing, visas, passports, vaccines, etc. We got your back on the mountain and off the mountain!
